INFORMATION FOUND IN THE INTERNET: Research shows J.F. King as a gunsmith and arms dealer in the Natal region of South Africa, specifically in the large port city of Durban up to about 1898; he may have also been an officer with the Royal Durban Rifles, a voluntary infantry formation in the city. The right side of the frame is marked "T3644", with the winged bullet and model markings on the left, and a matching partial serial number on the frame. Fitted with a pair of checkered grips.

INFORMATION FOUND FROM AN AUCTION OF A SIMILAR PISTOL : All original, and probably dates to the 1870’s. This is the Webley R.I.C. (Royal Irish Constable) No. 1 New Model, double action revolver. These were adopted by the R.I.C. in 1868. Chambered in .476/455 Caliber, with 4.5” barrel. Serial number 85369. Also marked Webley R.I.C. New Model No. 1 476 CF, with the Webley flying bullet.
